Info: Khan Batukhan ruled over the northern lands for eras, originally paid off by the Kingdom of Altaria, he and his tribe set off on the hard task of uniting their broken people. The Kingdom of Altaria, then only a fledgling state in a world of political and military confusion was glad to have an ally, of any sorts. The young King of Altaria saw in the rival nations a weakness, and by paying off, and solidifying himself with his-then greatest threat, Batukhan, he set off on a conquest equally as ambitious as Batukhan’s own. Each went in their own direction, from their humble villages.

Batukhan besieged and destroyed an old Khan’s power of his people first, firmly proving his dominance by razing the city to the ground when it refused to surrender. In doing so, the tribes that followed the old Khan surrendered without a fight to this younger, more promising Khan and his numbers swelled. As he conquered, razed, and pillaged his way through the harsh steppes, the young Altar unified portions of his kingdom through diplomacy and peace, raising a force equal to those of the two remaining nations: Niten and Ironor.

As the years of war and hardship continued, both the Khan and the King unified their respective lands, be it through war and fear, or diplomacy and promises of a better day. Both men knew that with their growing strength, both in the north and in the south, their families would one day clash. No matter how they gained their lands, they were men of honour. However, their children weren’t. The Khan birthed two sons, both ambitious and, once their father had unified the northern lands, had their sights turned on the South. Trying several times, in fact, to rally the armies together, and convince their father to head south. The Knights of Altaria were also ambitious and considered their Kingdom far superior to that of the nomads, who, even in being the sole remaining faction in the North, had no real unity beyond the respect to their Khan’s wishes.

As their age began to fail them, and peace was crumbling at their feet, both leaders headed to the desert city of Amenti, on a pennisula on he coast to the Southwest. Being that was a trade metropolis ruled by a neutral trade empire, both rulers saw it fit to sign a treaty of peace there, calling that for 100 years neither army should march on one another, and that Amenti would always be a safe haven for all. Both began to realize what turmoil would be unleashed on the lands and saw this one of the few ways they could keep some thread of peace in the storms of war to come.

When Batukhan died, as all men, great or small must, he named his two sons his heir – each giving their word that they would share the Empire despite several arguments over who would get the entirety of the land. The elder warrior, and the younger quick witted scholar. In respect to their father’s wishes – they remained at peace, gathering supporters to themselves in secrecy. When King Altar died, a mere year after the Great Khan, he dubbed his two greatest Knights his successors, unable to choose from either of them. The one that served him no matter the order, or the one who he considered a true son. If he didn’t name the first his successor, it would tear the Kingdom apart, even if he foresaw war in the man’s future…

So now both factions, political tensions aside, were at war, a battle for supremacy over the entirety of La Guardia. The two ambitious Khans or the two valorous Knights…who would unite the Land?
