 Ashes of the Fallen

A long trail of footprints snaked across the baron lands of the south as Orias made his way west through the falling ash. He was a rocks toss from the Templar territories to the north and thought it wise to avoid the conflict hungry Humans. Worse than the normal creations of said race, the religious types were always ready to exact death upon so called non-believers of their mindless dribble. That included Demons and Vampires, of course, because they were basically walking sin machines. Though, it was well known that they themselves were quite the sinners which made them hypocrites in every sense of the word!

If religious beliefs were not enough reason to attack a Demon or Vampire, the fact that both races preyed upon the Humans was. Infiltrating their lives, like parasites, the bloodsuckers use them to feed and the hellspawns to reproduce. Still, the Humans were alive and strong which was testament to their endurance as well as heart.

The ash was becoming too much for Orias as he struggled to trek across the landscape. Ahead was a large incline so the white Demon chose to cross over into Templar lands.

It was like a wall or barrier being passed, the rain of ash subsided and let way to blue sky above as he moved through. A few clouds were scattered around, but they could not block out the bright blazing sun.

Orias scoffed as the beauty of it all, as he tended to think negatively as to not be disappointed. It reminded him of the many years he waited, patiently, anxiously for his mother to return to Corpse Cave. One day he thought they could leave together and live again peacefully. Unfortunately, it was never meant to be. The legacy of Tarus, Orias’ father, would live on and nothing could stop it. Once unleashed, anything less than an Undead creature would not be safe. Orias could not keep his rage or power contained and many a Human had fallen over the years to his blades. That was the reason his mother had abandoned him, because she was frightened for her life. Ironically she was slain when he could have protected her.

Staying off the main roads, he tried to avoid any unnecessary conflict. He would slay a fool or two if they dared, but his main goal was to return to Corpse Cave. The possibility of changing his route and using the cover of trees in the Silenced Woods was high.
