 Boredom [Syn]

The more modern, towering buildings, the occasional motorcycle… The familiarity of people, back how things used to be, bustling around with cell phones and laptops… Caden never quite realized how much he had taken this larger, advanced city for granted. And, here he was, back to him home. As close as he could get to home, anyway. But, they had said home was where the heart was, and his humanness remaining craved socialization in a civilization like the on he had grown up in. With this, and his new demon… friend… he could live on for how many years were granted to him with his poor luck and even worse skill. But, the finesse with charm probably would buy him some extra time, however long that was. But, he couldn’t dwell on that. From the moment he had stepped within the territory, some sort of relief had come over him. It would have been better if Bast had chosen to join him in the confines of this Templar-infested city, but not everything could go his way. That sort of left forlornness in his heart again; no company, no one to wake up beside with than lingering fear of being abandoned. He felt like a helpless puppy, and it wasn’t too far from the truth. Devotion to a master who probably had no deeper connection to him, being a pet…

It didn’t quite matter, though. For the moment, he was free. The freedom was a bit concerning. Once again, he had satiated his hunger without the killing of his victim, but there had been no intimacy like he would have liked. Monogamy was a difficult thing to comprehend, and it was even worse knowing that single partner of his was probably not being as faithful as he was. The young vampire shrugged it off as he sauntered calmly down the streets he was familiarized with, the grace in his stride evident that all of his species possessed. He could not help his eyes from straying to the people around him—women, namely, of course. Looking but not touching… He would not wish the fate of being tortured by Bast on anyone, and that was the only thing keeping him at a distance. But, with her out of the city, would she really know? He bit his lip to dissuade himself from the thought, and he drew his long jacket around himself tighter in a sort of nervous habit more than the cold nipping his already frigid and pale skin. His black eyes lowered the ground, long lashes concealing his expression, and he walked silently.

He wasn’t too certain what he was looking for tonight. It was beautiful out; the moon was clear in the black, star-strewn skies, and the light was perfect—dimly accompanied by the streetlights of the city. That was the only reason he could think of as an excuse. Perhaps it was the hollowness he felt without the woman he had already grown overly attached to that made him so restless. Or, another reason that drifted to mind was that he was… bored… Caden let out a long sigh with a sardonic smirk, his pointed incisors poking out over his lower lip at the shift in expression. He wasn’t that underhanded. … Was he? The raven-haired man of supposed ‘twenty-one’ continued his aimless wandering to a more populated area of the city for so late at night, and he flopped over on a bench. Restlessly, he fidgeted, tapping his foot on the ground as he mulled over the meaningless thoughts bouncing through his psyche. He couldn’t fight the urge to seek out his catlike lover for however long she would allow him. The logic that remained in him reminded him that was suicidal. He finally decided harmless talking wouldn’t hurt, and his intense black eyes surveyed the few throngs of people that lingered in the streets.

Soft, light, hazy pink eyes glanced at each new site without so much as a care. Syn moved so swiftly it seemed as if she were gliding on the ground instead of walking. Light blonde, almost whitish hair remained oddly still even with the wind she created in her movements. The age old vampire was not a newcomer to this age; she understood it well. It didn't mean she had to like this era. But, she had to be patient. She knew that this time too would pass, and something greater, or perhaps worse, would come onto the earth. Humans had already destroyed so much with their wars and unbelievable drive to become smarter and more dominant over things that wouldn't matter once they were dead. Never had she tried to understand the ways of mortals. It was a waste of time. She felt somewhat hungry. Her red lips parted to reveal razor like fangs that her tongue gently swept across before concealing them once more. Now wasn't the time to eat. She had to figure out exactly where she was.

All she knew was that she didn't want to be here. The smells, the people... everything made her sick to her stomach, and it was because of this that she didn't bother to look at that sites. And because of her not looking at the sites, she was lost. It was somewhat cold outside, and all Syn had to wear was the corset that revealed everything but her breasts. It had been colder back in Japan, so she could not complain. Her senses picked up heavily on something, but she was too distracted by her inner thoughts to dwell into it. Cotton candy eyes followed along the street, too lazy to look up and see whatever it was that was around her. People seemed to sense something odd about the vampire, keeping a fair distance and quick glances. The sense was getting stronger, and it finally caught her attention. Bringing her eyes to level, she scanned the area, her steps going more slowly than before. Most seemed normal, except for a few people who dressed differently than the rest. Then she saw him.

A male vamp with long black hair who seemed to be somewhat lost and lonely. He rested at a bench, and she decided to make her move then. Where to begin? The rooftops, or perhaps a more casual approach? It had been a while since she had seen one of her kind. The last she had seen were some foolish vamps who disregarded their past and the truths. Their lives were quickly ended, the small amount of Akasha's blood and teachings running through her veins. Syn quickly made her way behind the vampire from the frontal position she was once at. Holding in a growl, she approached him from behind, not minding to be cautious. It was females who attacked the males, not the other way around, from what she had known. "Lonely?" she softly spoke out, her heavy accent making her wonder if he could understand her. She slowly made her way around the bench, sitting a few inches from him, not bothering to look in his direction. He was surveying the people so it seemed. It was odd to her that a vampire would want to socialize with a human. She crossed her right leg over her left, her arms crossing and resting on her chest. The humans that she thought he wanted to socialize with, were merely a banquet for her. As juicy as the fat ones looked, she knew they would cause her health problems later. Though cold, she would never feast upon a child.

Caden reclined backwards where he sat, subdued and dark eyes rolling upward to observe the velvety skies overhead. He didn’t quite know how he had lived all these years without something to fill this emptiness he knew had been there all along at this point. He still needed to figure out what it was; it was not love. He didn’t think so… He shook it off, trying to keep this time just for some sort of relaxation. His black hair shifted slightly with his movements to reveal more of his pale face, and he pursed his lips in thoughtfulness as he tried to name the constellations. The stars were not as bright as they were in Bloody Regret, and he wished he had more courage to allow Bastet to remain where her home was instead of endangering her here. It also reminded him he needed to find a sight to compensate for the lack of natural beauty in Cog. Or at least… a natural beauty that she would appreciate. At the moment, his eyes caught onto a female vampire he had not seen around the city, nor in the safe house the few times he had visited there. His thoughts snapped into focus as he realized how his keen eyes were surveying her with the predatory gleam he had promised to eliminate except for when it came to his demonness.

His elbow, resting on his knee supported his chin as the male vampire relaxed once more. Intently, he observed her, her every stride captivating him unlike the humans who looked very clumsy in contrast. It was the damnable urges he had; it would take so long to quell this habit… But looking didn’t hurt. He glanced away within safe intervals to keep discreet, but the one time his obsidian eyes flickered to her unusual pink ones, he was startled into giving up. He looked away as casually as he could and leaned back against the back of the bench. There went his entertainment… He muttered something under his breath as his fingers threaded together on his lap, and his gaze was to the ground. His long, black hair formed a curtain around his pale features, concealing them from view once more. It was a little difficult to remain nonchalant when a prickle up his spine informed him subconsciously he was most likely being watched. The different aura of a supernatural being mingled with the majority of humans was also distracting; his attention was trained on that, knowing to be careful even out in the open, lest a fight or something break out.

He looked up through his lashes and hair, and he was surprised yet again to see the woman was missing from the scenery. His eyes opened a fraction wider, and he suppressed a noticeable shiver as the uncanny knowledge that someone was, in fact, behind him set in. He raised his head, his shoulders set back in a fairly relaxed stance. He smirked lightly as she spoke, allowing the tenor of her thickly accented voice run another, more pleasant tremor down his spine. “You have no idea,” he replied, chipper, in a mixed accent that was primarily akin to British and Welsh. At least he had caught her attention. It seemed awfully familiar… Catching the attention of someone more powerful, beautiful, and being smug with that fact. Then there was the fact that there was a distinct sound to her voice that Bast had as well… He glanced over at her as she made her way around the bench by a simple incline of his head. Revealing clothing… This was too weird. Even her eyes were of a relatively similar hue. She wasn’t looking at him, so he took the opportunity to shamelessly peruse her profile. He was fairly relaxed at the moment, but he didn’t want to provoke her.

His hands unfolded and slid down to rest on his knees. Caden observed her change positions from the corner of his dark eyes before he closed the gap discreetly, years of practice evident in his subtle gestures. One hand shifted to fill the small space between them, hardly touching her skin that was as cold as his. It let him know she was very different than Bast, and he lowered his eyes, his eyelashes concealing his expression. “What is a young woman like you doing out late and alone?” he asked smoothly, pretending to disregard their common trait of being the same race. “It isn’t really safe to talk to strangers, as safe as this city is and as lonely as those strangers look.”

Syn hadn't noticed that she was being watched. She knew her features made her seem out of place. She got the constant question of if her eye color was real. With that question, she had went into some research. How can ones eyes not be real? Later, she found that an invention known as contacts had been made. Why it was so hard for people to wear glasses was something she couldn't understand, but she also knew that humans were naturally ugly. Maybe they would invent anything to make themselves look a little better. Men were especially the ugliest. She found it odd that decent looking women would marry and make love to a fat, ugly, poor man. In the vampire world, there was no such thing as love. Just lust. This made understanding humans even more difficult for her. Vampires couldn't love one another. They could love music, and things of that sort, but never another soul.

She lightly smirked as he spoke, his accent different from most she had met. She wanted to repeat after him, knowing now that he was quite a bit younger than her. She had gone hundreds of years at a time without another of her kind to speak to. Had he been through the same? It was likely. Vampires kept to themselves now, too busy figuring out who was the strongest instead of socializing like they did in olden time. But, she had to remember that she wasn't in olden times anymore. Though her eyes were away, she could sense that his were trailing her body. With her cocky and superior attitude, this pleased her. Was he like the other young vampires she had encountered? He didn't seem like it, but she knew well that first impressions didn't mean a thing. She wanted to say something, ask questions, but her lack of socialization made it difficult to do so. She was never one to speak aloud her thoughts anyway. Having no real problem with a life of solitude, she remained out of conversations. She could barely speak English. The languages she knew were dead. Latin, Egyptian, old Japanese, and many others had died with their people.

Though he hadn't made a sign yet, she could tell he was going to move. The tensing of his muscles made his blood pump harder, even if he could tell it or not. A small smirk formed on her lips as he closed their gap. She had seen this before on the movies. Males would normally place their arm around the females shoulder, and begin to... Oh what's the word? Flirt. Yes, that sounded right. Her eyes slowly wondered over to his as he touched her, not expecting the contact. It felt odd having a touch that was unprovoked. Her mind slowly went over his words, making sure that she got the meaning right to each word spoken. "I am here for the same reason as you," she slowly spoke out the sentence she had formed in her mind. It was then she realized talking might become a bit of a challenge, but with it, she gained knowledge. Her eyes still looking into his, she continued to practice her new language. "I would have more fear if I were in your shoes," she gently replied.

Not too long ago she had learned 'expressions'. She used them quite a bit while speaking even if she didn't really know what they meant. Sometimes others would look at her oddly if she had used one that made no sense, but maybe that one would be understandable. Like hell if she knew. Talking was too much trouble, and speaking through the mind was even more difficult since most newer vamps didn't know how. They could hear the words spoken to them, but they could rarely reply back. It was no good since she barely understood English anyway.

Caden knew he shouldn’t get too attached or interested. Whoever she was, a demon was stronger than any of their race, and she would be killed if he was found with her. Yes, truly the years had spoiled him to think that way; he had never been turned down in his advances. But, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to continue with that pattern. Regardless, he kept his attention on the present with his self restraint in mind. His dark eyes watched the curve of her lips after he had spoken, and he took it as a good sign. He also was quite aware she knew he had been looking at her at such close proximity. It didn’t daunt him, and he turned on an angle so his knees were close to touching hers as well. “I don’t suppose you’re lonely as well,” he murmured softly, leaning in slightly as he spoke, a mischievous glint in his dark eyes. “It would certainly be convenient…” He trailed off, his other hand that was not in between them trailing along the top of the back of the bench, inching closer to her shoulder. She seemed so rigid in her posture, but she didn’t seem to be emanating hostility or anything else that should deter him.

She only seemed to be receptive; he took it as indication to continue. In the world of vampires, he had learned, there really wasn’t any attachment among each other. And, him being as young as he was, he was certain almost everyone he met had a good deal more of experience than he. So, he bolstered his nerve enough to lightly brush her fingertips over the outside of her thigh, appearing casual and almost oblivious. He caressed her very softly, holding the façade that he really didn’t notice. He wanted to satisfy the annoying urge of being pursued by someone else; Bast made him feel so insignificant. So, as selfish as it was, he was hoping he could get a rise out of this seemingly stoic vampiress. He met her eyes calmly as they went to his, shrugging calmly as if to question what she was looking at. She seemed to be thinking quite a bit, and he put two and two together that with her accent and thoughtful pauses that English was not her forte. But, he wasn’t that rude, so he didn’t say anything on it. “Oh, really?” he questioned silkily, smiling his most disarming. “How do you know I have a reason? I live here.” Or perhaps that was it; no reason, just wandering with thoughts. He sighed softly.

Her soft voice made him let out a soft chuckle. The haughty expression never faltered, and he shrugged calmly. “You’ve given me no reason to think that way,” Caden stated calmly, shifting to rest his hand atop her thigh, and he patted her softly, almost patronizingly. “I can handle myself anyway.” He was vague, and he adopted a more clandestine expression. She didn’t have to know his handling situations were fleeing as fast as he could, and luckily for him, he had someone to flee to. But, he shrugged as if to dismiss to topic. “But, if I am going to be afraid, at least give me a name to identify such a lovely ‘terror’ by.” He leaned back, his hand sliding away from her to rest between them once more. He would heed her advice if his touch bothered her—in varying degrees of expressing that. But, he was silently hoping she would oblige him in playing even a little bit. He had made his new intention clear to her by his gestures, he hoped, and he was eager to see what would come of it. But, she was quiet, and she hadn’t moved, so he was left in the dark about this blonde enigma.

Syn could tell the young vamp was thinking. Never being the nosy type, she really didn't care exactly what his thoughts were on right now. With the past hundred years or so passing, she tried to keep her thoughts quiet, or else she feared going insane. Her mind was blank most of the time, and it suited her nicely. Thoughts were troubling. Her eyes were still on him, and her candy colored eyes caught the mischievous look in his. "We get used to it," she replied concerning the whole race and not just her alone. He was trying to seduce her, and was very open about his intentions. She lightly smirked at his moves. She had kept romance out of her life since she could find no one of her kind. She relaxed her body, letting out a deep breath from her lungs. Her own eyes slanted a little in interest of what he was doing. She gently edged her body closer to his, her hip lightly touching his own.

She remained still with his touch, her muscles tightening just a little from a touch that she hadn't know for so long. A gentle, purr-like noise escaped her throat, her eyes lightly glazing over. She lifted her hand up slightly and softly ran her index finger over his thigh, stopping before she got too close to 'anything'. Her movements stopped for just a short while as he spoke. So, he lived here. She was here for no reason herself, simply passing through and trying to find some place that suited her needs, and more so her wants. This place wouldn't be so bad, be it not for the loud noises. But they were everywhere now. She was happy enough to be around vampires instead of the filthy lycans from where she had previously ventured away from. But who knew when those filth could reappear. She lightly shrugged. "Finding a place closer to vampires than lycans," she softly spoke. She slowly lifted her heels off the ground, gently moving her body a little so she could place her legs over his. She scooted just a little closer to him, placing her hands on her legs and letting her shoulder lean up against the back of the bench.

She lightly smirked as he spoke. She took no offense to his words. Her soft voice, and even softer features made her seem less menacing than she really was. It was her disguise, and the perfect weapon. "Are you sure you can handle yourself?" she asked with a small grin. She didn't expect an answer. He wanted her name. She knew well enough that a vampire should never reveal their full name to anyone. She couldn't remember the exact story behind it; basic superstition of her time. But it was how she was raised, and it was planted in her mind. She leaned a little closer, letting her lips linger just a few inches from his ear. "You can call me Syn," she softly whispered in his ear before giving him a gentle nip on the ear. She would enjoy playing with him, since that seemed to be his intention from the start. Hopefully he would be experienced his play, or else she would make a quick leave. She never understood the saying of 'virgins were better'. Perhaps just another human thing.

“That’s a bit unusual,” Caden remarked lightly, reclining back in his seat further as he passively observed her from the corner of his eye. “I’m never really lonely…” His words were thick with insinuation, and he smirked his most disarming. He had to wonder where she came from. This was quite a populated city with plenty of supernatural nightlife and an even wider abundance of humans. She clearly wasn’t living in present age; he had a sense for those sort of things, mostly because she was different from him in ways he could pick up on. Being a twenty-first century child, it was easy to identify those who grew up in the age. “You’re obviously not from around here,” he pointed out laughingly with a small shrug. He sighed and looked straight ahead, weighing his options with serious consideration. He was the one who had made such a fuss about loyalty, and now he was going around being a hypocrite. Bast was going to be very upset with him; he knew he’d confess like the pushover he was. He let out a thoughtful noise as she slid up closer to him. He gave her an intent look, knowing that he should probably be excusing himself about now.

Very lightly beneath his fingertips, he could feel her muscles react ever-so-slightly to his touch. The jolt of familiar excitement stirred within him as she let out a soft sound, and his intense black eyes hungrily observed the expression in hers. She was obviously receptive to him, and he knew that the feeling within him was nothing in comparison to his other partner. But, it had been several days’ travel time, and they hadn’t stopped for any real break except during the daylight for him. But, those few days deprived of touch agitated him. Surely, she’d understand if it was for the sake of his sanity. But, he’d see how simply playing would go. A low rumble reverberated in his chest as he felt her own gentle touch, straying too close to him for the first few minutes of meeting. But, they would probably not see each other again, and they were vampires. “You’ve come to the right place. The city is very populated with our kind. There is a safe house not far from here either, but I haven’t bothered much with it,” he spoke in a quicker, hushed tone, lest any mortals be around to listen in. “So long as you don’t kill any of them, you’ll fit right in. I’ll show you where it is later if you’d like; it is very well hidden.” He rested his arm over the back of the bench, and he let out a thoughtful ‘hm’ as she shifted positions to drape her legs over his.

He turned his head to the side to observe her more closely. “Quite sure,” Caden articulated calmly in response to her question, smiling softly at her grin. “You don’t bite, do you?” he asked with mock concern, his brow knit together slightly. He leaned his head over towards her, closer to her neck that was as cold as his own skin. It made him sigh, and he suddenly felt the craving for the warmth of his other ‘friend’. “I’ll assure you I don’t, though,” he murmured gently, his breath fanning out against her pale skin, and his teeth lightly grazed the skin as he pulled away. He mumbled something unintelligent as she leaned closer to him, and he closed his eyes to allow the soft tenor of his voice to run shivers down his spine. “A lovely name for a lovely woman,” he sighed lightly, smirking playfully. His fingers flitted up her leg again lightly, before the arm over the back of the bench twined in the strands of her dark hair at the base of her head. “But, lovely does not entail ‘special’,” the dark-haired man coaxed softly, hoping she had some ego she needed to defend. “I’ve only found one who was fun to… play with. Won’t you convince me there’s more?”
